What's goin' on?
3 TRADE SHOWS, 45 DAYS In the last 45 days, I hit up 3 trade shows - IDS Toronto, BuildEx Vancouver, and BC Home & Garden Show. I continue to have the privilege working with the Blanco Kitchen Design Council and you can read all about the cavorting around on RethinkTheSink.com. I thank them for spoiling me rotten at IDS Toronto.
As part of my role with the NKBA, I am responsible for bringing in speakers from near and wide for educational programs and I pulled off four for BuildEx Vancouver. This was a tough job - I started working on 2013 in July, and I started working on 2014 this past week - but I did it. I had four speakers come out and two were from out of town. I am so impressed by their presentations and I am lucky enough to slide them over to the friendship category. As I transition out of the role of VP Professional Development and into another role within the chapter, I look forward to actually being able to speak in 2014!
The last show was BC Home & Garden Show and it is a consumer show rather than an industry show. I had the privilage to speak with Jamie Banfield, VP of Programs, about why working with an NKBA professional is important, and, I just have to say, our slide show was pretty slick. We should have the video up and running soon for everyone to see.
THE COUNTDOWN TO KBIS
I am working on some stuff for the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and there will be more on that soon enough, but I am excited to go this year. I have been studying for the next design certification and look forward to sitting for it. KBIS is April 20-22 in New Orleans and I am excited to taste the cuisine! Oh, and of course to accept my Ambassador's Club award from the NKBA!
DESIGN AWARDS
It's award season. I hope I win some. If not, that's okay, I'll just keep on doing what I am doing.
PROJECTS
It looks like the Dunbar Project is nearing completion in the coming months and that will be exciting for the clients. They are so awesome, I am so lucky to have them. The East Van project is gearing up too and that is a much needed renovation for a family in need. Over in the Kits area, a laundry room is slowly tearing a family apart so we're going to tear it up first! And that's just the start... there's another over in False Creek, and a few more on the peripheral that are coming in fast for the kill. Needless to say, expansion plans are in the works to handle the workload but they are a few months away.
Keep it functional!
