2. Corey’s Speaking Topics and Industry Expertise
While each speaking engagement reflects Corey’s dedication to professional design education, there are a unique range of topics to highlight. Corey brings their experience as a student, client/customer, personal varied physical and visual abilities, interior designer, and as an experienced design educator to the table. As our Principal Designer, Corey has been a proponent of life-long learning the interior design industry since starting Articulated Design Studio in 2011 as Corey Klassen Interior Design.
Corey’s insights have derived from:
An award winning design practice,
Becoming an established design educator,
Coordinating industry led publications in kitchen and bath design, and
Qualified design expertise as one of (3) professionals in Western Canada holding both the NCIDQ and CMKBD certifications.
Whether you are a post-professional in the field or an emerging design professional, a client or a vendor, researching interesting topics and advanced on-going learning is challenging. It is also interesting to note what topics that design chapter meetings, industry events, and design exhibitions are actively seeking out. Registered Architects, NCIDQ Certified Interior Designers, and Certified Kitchen and Bath Designers (CKBD) are required to collect Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during an education cycle, often requiring 20 hours or more of additional ongoing learning every two (2) years to meet their practice requirements. Associations such as the Designers and Decorators Association of Canada (DDA), National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), and International Interior Design Association (IIDA) all have CEU requirements that must be met to maintain certifications and membership — it is through events like these that qualified industry professionals will cross-pollinate from their practice areas to education by advocating for ways to improve their industry at large across Canada and the U.S.
Below are a list of topics that Corey is currently prepared to speak upon:
Inclusive design
Accessible design
Kitchen design
Online design services
Steam showers
Luxury bath design
Professional practices and ethics
Concept development and the design process
Construction drawings and presentation standards
3. Past Engagements
Over the past 2 decades Corey has spoken to interior designers and design professionals at industry events across North America and on popular podcasts for the design industry. This provides a way to cross pollinate ideas across borders to designers to continue their path on lifelong learning. There has never been a speakers list or compilation of speaking engagements for Corey until now. Consider this an evolving section that we will update as we go through our archives.
Please Note: If you have any events and evidence that we have not showcased reach out we would love to hear from you.
