What’s a Design Palette ?

Our Design Palettes: An Introduction

Scrolling through the flat lays for our design palettes you might be wondering “what is a design palette” and “what’s the purpose of all these geometric layouts of tiles and other finishes and materials” ?

Our design palette’s purpose is to create a seamless and enduring foundation for any interior space. In the industry we would call this a pre-selected interior finish specification package or in designer slang: “hard finishes”. Creating a solid foundation is only part of it. We developed this collection of finishes + materials to be virtual design services, by building a Design Work Session into each palette. Each selection embodies our studio’s standards and that of our Creative Director a certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer. Balancing our expertise with colour and design, with the practical demands of everyday use. So you can confidently choose your colour and add your style.

When we talk about hard finishes, we mean any element that becomes part of the room’s structure—materials that cover your floors, walls, or ceilings. This can include everything from paint colors to wall tiles, floor and shower tiles, hardwood flooring, cabinetry, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. Each palette considers not just color but durability, quality, and the unique functionality each material will bring to your space.

Our biggest design advice:

Choose all your finishes at the same time. Do not choose it one at a time.

Designing with a curated palette is not just about finding the right white or selecting attractive finishes; it’s about ensuring every component serves its purpose beautifully, creating a functional, harmonious environment. Whether you're planning a full-service project, refreshing a condo kitchen, or scheduling a consultation, our design palette approach provides a holistic foundation that meets both your aesthetic and practical needs.

are curated to be a interactive digital product and service. Not only is it a solid base set of finishes and materials for residential interior spaces that we would call a pre-selected interior finish specification package. There is also an online design service as your built in design guide.

At the heart of each of our design palettes are:

  1. A curated collection of interior finishes + Materials (pre-selected interior finish specification package)

  2. An online design work session

We created this so clients can have the same types of options a qualified designer would recommend no matter how involved they want us to be. Giving you more choices than you might have thought were available with your independent contractor or home builder.

We realise your design journey can follow many different types of pathways. We curated this digital service:

  • To be a solid base for any type of interior design project

  • To be a virtual gateway to colour

  • Meaning: IF we haven’t already used the product ourselves, or it does not have testing data to indicate its suitability for wet zones or how it will wear, then we simply won’t specify it.

Depending upon where you are located these finishes and materials we will showcase might not be on the shelves of your local hardware store to touch and feel. Yet each of the materials and finishes we specify are available to order across Canada by qualified contractors, local dealers, and trade suppliers.
