A day with DXV is anything but standard
This past week I have been out in New York with the team at DXV by American Standard. It's awesome to sit with Cheryl, Marilyn, Mary, Meredith, Susan, and Veroika Miller, Curator-In-Chief and CEO of Modenus, with the DXV product design and development team to share my interpretation and (sometimes) opinion of the cool things that DXV is doing. Although the launch isn't officially until September, Jay Gould, CEO and President of American Standard, had an amazing brain-trust beneath him supporting every move. And he's not done yet because there is some more cool stuff coming.
Here's what I learned during our Design Panel focus group: 1. There is a PhD. in Fluid Motion Dynamics. Seriously. I want to pick that brain 2. I actually tried the AT200 Integrated Bidet Toilet and IT WAS AMAZING! WHY DON'T WE ALL HAVE THESE IN EVERY BATHROOM!?!? It nearly made me miss the trip back to Manhattan but the heated seat was worth every single second 3. 3D Printing will soon allow customized plumbing fittings. Wow! 4. The toilet noise has everything to do with how big that poop-chute is and the bowl shape. One-and-done with a 4.8lpf! (Seriously, they test it with miso-soy stuffed sausages that looks the same. I have photographic evidence) 5. DXV is exceptional and I am so privileged to associate with them all.
I won't bore you with more of the technical photos now (saving them for later) but here are some fun photos from the amazing night at the DXV Showroom at 15 West 20th Street in the Flatiron District: (Those of you who know me understand that I think a boring photo is a boring photo)
Mer, Cheryl & I on the town. Ish.
Debbie from DXV by American Standard
Susan and I smiling but really we're planning the next explosion in kitchens
Mary, Wendy and Gregory (the photo-bomber)
Marilyn. What can I say!?!
So now you know the design wives but there's much more on DXV via Instagram. Pay attention to this brand, not because I asked but because they're doing it differently.

It's completely my own fault, but holy crap has it been an incredibly busy month. You can't blame me, it's been a banner year thus far and growth is better than none.

I took home 3rd Place in the Large Bathroom category at the recent NKBA 2014 Design Competition in Las Vegas at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. This project was in collaboration with Fifth Element Construction & Renovation Ltd. and the clients couldn't be more pleased with the results
There was so much pressure and so much intensity of this project. It was a complete whirlwind. And it was so much fun and an experience of a lifetime. I figured I would show off a few behind the scenes moments of the project and a look into my process.
Every now and then something comes along that you just can not pass by. An opportunity to do something so uniquely special and different that it just draws you toward it like a magnet. Welcome the DXV Design Panel.
Like strangers in the night exchanging glances, the romanticism of de Le Cuona's fabrics were captured in my heart forever. From beautiful linens to delicate cashmere's, there is nothing that woman can not do. I am in love with Bernie de Le Cuona. There, I said it
I consider myself to be a newbie when it comes to designing steam showers. Just on one project I learned an intense amount about planning and installing one. I do not think I am an expert, but I now know a lot more than the average designer.
I have to admit. It's been 5 days back from London Design Festival and my brain is full of so much information that I don't even know where to begin. That, and the jet-leg knocked me off my feet, kind of makes me want to just curl up in a really big bathtub for days on end. So, here's a bit of Saturday bathroom porn.
I've left for London to cavort with #BlogTourLDN care of Modenus, and although I'm pretty sure there is more than just ERII as the only Queen in London Town, I do hope that I catch a passing glimpse of HRH in a car, sedan, or lorry-truck.... I'll take anything.
I'm off to the brand-spanking-new World of Whirlpool in Chicago for the Jenn-Air Designer Forums with Ellen Cheever, CMKBD, ASID, CAPS and I plan on absorbing every single second of it. And eat pizza.
Please don't hate me because I'm either well connected or a "great-designer-apparent" with all this gallivanting across the globe. I really don't know how these things fall in my lap but they do and I'm not going to turn them away! That's right, more trips, more photos, more inspiration, more Instagram, and more great and cool content to bring to you. Kind of a great bunch of birthday presents!
A look back at last week's excursion into the thunderous experience that can only be described as an amazing fashion faucet brand.
What a week at the Brizo #Blogger19 Reunion! We laughed, we cried, we were angry, we became excited, and we connected with each other. Two bus-loads of us designer types took two days to tour St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Brizo factory floor in hot 'n sweaty Memphis. Seriously, I could not have chosen a more perfect antiperspirant and light-weight clothing.
Industry travel trips and trade shows are extremely important for any designers' success.
Well, well, well. It's been a while. It has been a busy first two months of 2013 and there have been some changes around here so I thought I should take a moment to bring everyone up to speed.
